UFO Enthusiast Flies Drone Near Area 51

UFO enthusiast Hans Fulkner has been uploading aerial footage of Area 51 from last year, before the “no drones” signs went up.

Back in January the US Government banned unmanned aerial vehicles from flying near the facility.

That’s according to a new batch of warning signs posted around the U.S. Air Force base in Nevada. The exact purpose of Area 51 remains classified, though it’s believed to be the military’s primary development and testing facilities for aircraft and new weapons. The landscape surrounding Area 51 is patrolled by trucks and is dotted with stern signs warning visitors they’re subject to search and possible arrest if they cross a boundary.

Military blog Foxtrot Alpha was the first to break the story.

It makes total sense that one of the most heavily guarded pieces of property in the world, where secret flight testing is its reason for existing, doesn’t want civilian operated drones equipped with cameras buzzing around its perimeter. There is also the case of the notorious low-flying HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters that aggressively patrol Area 51’s edges. A hobby drone could inadvertently cause one of these helicopters to crash, should there be a collision.

Before I let you go here is one more video from hans with a Google Mapslink. Be sure to check out the other videos on his youtube channel.
