Rallies will be held in Sydney this weekend to protest the city’s controversial lockout laws.
Keep Sydney Open, one of the driving forces of the anti-lockout movement, is planning a rally on Sunday—with speeches from musicians who argue the laws have hampered the city’s nightlife.
At the same time, the Queensland Government has announced that lockout laws will be implemented in that state from July 1.
It’s a story that’s been picked up internationally, with some questioning whether Australia risks losing a reputation as a place to come for a good holiday—and a chance to party.
Tyler Brule is the publisher of the magazine Monocle, which has just released its March edition—all about Australia.
Brule argues that Australia is too focused on its rules and regulations, but that it’s also ‘on the up’.
